Wall Street closes lower on Friday but rallies on the week

FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - The US stocks market has closed slightly lower on Friday after recovering ground from strong early losses as investors was disappointed by bad economic data released on the day. Stocks stop 4-day winning streak.

The Dow Jones declined 0.08 points, almost flat on the day to 14,865.06 but advanced 2.06% on the week. The S&P 500 declined 4.52 points or 0.28% to end the day at 1,588.85, 2.29% above last Friday close. The Nasdaq Composite eased 5.21 points or 0.16% to 3,294.95, 2.84% higher on the week.

The euro zone economy surprises to the downside, according to Ulrich Leuchtmann, analyst at Commerzbank. "It would seem that we will have to wave goodbye to the hope that a rapid reduction in ECB rate cut speculation might support EUR-USD over the coming months".

Forex: EUR/USD trades above 1.3100

The EUR/USD made a last jump before the Wall Street closing bell and advanced around 35 pips in the latest few minutes from 1.3075 to break above 1.3100 and trade at 1.3110. Pair is currently at 1.3100.
