Should be patient about future interest rates hikes – Fed’s Evans

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Charles Evans gave a speech at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago during the Asian session and mentioned that Fed should be in no hurry to raise interest rates.

Evans maintains his dovish stance on the Fed’s current policies and emphasizes that he would probably not vote for hiking up rates in 2015.

Key Quotes:

Evans mentioned that at present "raising rates would be a catastrophe", citing as evidence unsatisfactory progress in housing.

He also stated that he would prefer a "shallow" slope of increase when rate-hikes commence.
He further added, "We should be patient about maintaining the stance of our current policies.”
